Change Is Good
Team PHA,
I remember the day I asked my son’s beloved baseball coach—Jason Hicks, who was also our general contractor working on the office remodel at JCR—if he would be offended if I offered his employee, Brandon Carney, a job. Since quality labor is hard to come by, I knew this would be a big ask.
Fortunately for PHA, Jason had Brandon’s best interests at heart. He recognized that Brandon was destined for something more than what Jason could provide, and he appreciated the opportunity our company could offer him. With that understanding, I felt comfortable extending the offer—and the rest is history.
It didn’t take long before Brandon was working the phones at JCR and mastering our relatively new computer system. Always eager to learn and embrace new technologies, Brandon quickly picked up the ins and outs of JCR customer service as well as door hardware—especially purchasing for Rocky Mountain Hardware, a task usually reserved for seasoned veterans.
With the news of Beth’s pending retirement, Brandon jumped at the opportunity to learn a new skill in Purchasing and flex a new muscle—adding value to PHA in a new and significant way. I feel like Brandon has taken on two or three roles since he joined our company just 3 1/2 years ago. He always responds to new opportunities with a “Yes!”
At PHA, our 10th Core Value states:

We are in rapidly changing times, and AI will continue to push our company to embrace change; fight stronger challenges and seize new opportunities. Teammates with an approach to work and self development like Brandon are essential in this new economy, and I just wanted to take a moment to celebrate a team member who truly embodies this particular core value.
To be honest, I had a hard time deciding whether Core Value #9 would better describe Brandon Carney… so I tossed a coin. 🙂
